PETA: What do you think?

I've been researching about PETA and I just don't know what to think. From what I've read PETA is a pretty great organization, but there ways of going about things is wrong. If you don't know PETA stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. They are encouraging people young and old to help stand up for animal rights! That's the good part. The negative is that they would rather see the animals dead then locked up, kept in a circus, zoo, that sort of thing. They euthanize thousands of animals a year! &I understand the fact that there are so many animals without homes & not enough funding to care for them but it's just so awful. This is what I've found on there view of putting down the animals;

PETA opposes the no kill movement, and euthanizes an estimated 85% of the animals it takes in.[7] The group takes in feral cat colonies with diseases such as feline AIDS and leukemia, stray dogs, litters of parvo-infected puppies, and backyard dogs, and says that it would be unrealistic to follow a no-kill policy in such instances.[78] They offer free euthanasia services to counties that kill unwanted animals via gassing or shooting—they recommend the use of an intravenous injection of sodium pentobarbital if administered by a trained professional, and for severely ill or dying pets when euthanasia at a veterinarian is unaffordable.[79] They recommend euthanasia for certain breeds, such as pit bull terriers, and in certain situations for animals in shelters: for example, for those living for long periods in cramped cages.[80]

Some of that I can agree with to a certain extent but to put down certain breeds?! This is the kind of issue that I can talk on and on about, being a animal lover, yet there's nothing I can do to help or change things. This is PETA's view on euthanasia;

 Every day in the United States, tens of thousands of puppies and kittens are born. Compare this to the nearly 11,000 human births each day, and it’s clear that there can never be enough homes for all these animals. Shelters are stuck with the heartrending job of dealing with animals nobody wants. Those who refuse to spay and neuter their animals, who abandon animals when they grow tired of them, and who patronize pet shops instead of adopting stray or shelter animals make euthanasia a tragic necessity.

Now, I'm not going to continue to bore you with the facts or what I believe to be the facts just from Internet research, we all know it can never be 100% true unless it's straight from the source. But if you'd like to know more I've learned quite a bit from these three websites.
